REPORT: Wednesday back to winning ways

Three assists from Ross Wallace inspired Wednesday to their second league win of the season as they beat Fulham 3-2 at Hillsborough.

Keiren Westwood returned to the side after a five-week lay-off, while Ross Wallace and Alex Lopez came in for Marco Matias and the suspended Sam Hutchinson.

The Owls started brightly and they were ahead inside 13 minutes through Fernando Forestieri. The former Watford man headed home his first Wednesday goal from Ross Wallace’s corner.

However, despite dominating, Wednesday were only ahead for 20 minutes as Jamie O’Hara‘s shot took a big deflection and wrong-footed Westwood.

Tom Lees restored the Owls’ lead five minutes later when he got up highest at the back post to nod home from another Wallace corner.

HALF TIME: Wednesday 2-1 Fulham

Goalscorer Forestieri was replaced by Lucas João at half time and Wednesday had extended their lead within five minutes of the restart.

Ross Wallace made it a hat-trick of assists as Michael Turner rose highest to head in his first Wednesday goal against the side he spent six weeks at last term.

But the visitors weren’t done there as Tom Cairney pulled one back in the 67th minute as he headed in from O’Hara’s cross.

Carlos Carvalhal looked to shore things up with 10 minutes left as Jeremy Helan replaced a knackered Atdhe Nuhiu.
