REPORT: Wednesday draw Bolton blank

Wednesday extended their winless run to six league games as they drew 0-0 at Bolton Wanderers.

Michael Turner made his debut for the Owls, replacing skipper Glenn Loovens, with Tom Lees wearing the captain’s armband.

Jack Hunt replaced Liam Palmer at right back and Marco Matias came in for Ross Wallace.

Wednesday started brightly and had a chance inside 10 minutes, when Matias was denied by a clearance on the line after a good cross from Hunt.

Matias was in again moments later but Trotters ‘keeper Ben Amos did well to save at the midfielder’s feet as he tried to go around him.

The hosts had their first meaningful chance midway through the first half when Derik Osede headed over the bar from Liam Feeney’s corner.

The Owls completed a hat-trick of goalscoring chances on the half hour when Kieran Lee was denied by Amos after a smart run.

Fernando Forestieri could have had his first Wednesday goal two minutes into the second half but he curled over the bar after Atdhe Nuhiu’s knock-down.

On the hour Gary Madine should have broken his Bolton duck but he headed over from a free kick.

The Owls made three changes in quick succession as they chased a winner, with Modou Sougou replacing Matias, Lucas João coming on for Nuhiu and Alex Lopez for the booked Sam Hutchinson.

Bolton then made a change of their own with Emile Heskey replacing Madine with 10 minutes left.

Substitute João had a late chance for the Owls but he could only fire straight at Amos.
