REPORT: Owls oust big boys Burnley

Wednesday have knocked Premier League Burnley out of the Capital One Cup after a 1-0 win at Turf Moor.

Substitute Atdhe Nuhiu scored the winner for the Owls, converting from the spot after Jeremy Helan was brought down by Jason Shackell in the 78th minute.

It was a first half of few chances with Michael Kightly going close for the hosts early on and the Owls nearly going ahead courtesy of an own goal when Kevin LongĀ  sliced onto his own crossbar after a dangerous cross by Liam Palmer.

The Owls looked to press for a winner in the second half with Chris Maguire finding the side netting before he was substituted.

Stuart Gray brought Stevie May and Atdhe Nuhiu off the bench and it was the big Austrian’s penalty that ensured the Owls progress to the third round of this season’s competition.
