REPORT: Wednesday 1-1 Millwall

Wednesday suffered 95th minute heartbreak as Magaye Gueye’s 95th minute strike earned Millwall a 1-1 draw, after Chris Maguire had put the Owls in front. Shaun Williams missed a penalty for the visitors.

Stuart Gray made one change to the Wednesday side that started against Derby, with Jose Semedo replacing the injured Kieran Lee.

Former Owl Mark Beevers started at centre half for Millwall while boyhood Blade Lee Gregory was named up front for Millwall.

Wednesday came out of the blocks strongly and Stevie May had an early chance but he couldn’t quite divert Joe Mattock’s cross into David Forde’s net.

Millwall’s first chance saw Lee Martin curl a free-kick wide while minutes later Wednesday could have gone ahead but Atdhe Nuhiu headed over after an excellent corner by Chris Maguire.

HALF TIME: Wednesday 0-0 Millwall

The deadlock was broken 12 minutes into the second half when Chris Maguire‘s free kick went straight through the Millwall wall and into the bottom corner.

Moments later Ian Holloway made a double change as Ricardo Fuller and Magaye Gueye replaced Lee Gregory and Jimmy Abdou.

Wednesday were also forced into a change as Sam Hutchinson was replaced by Giles Coke, with Gary Madine then replacing Nuhiu on the 70-minute mark.

The Owls made their final change when Jeremy Helan came on for Jacques Maghoma with 12 minutes left.

Millwall had a golden opportunity to equalise in the 85th minute when Westwood brought down Martin but, after taking his time, Shaun Williams hit the post from the spot.

In the final minute of normal time, Millwall made their final change when Jermaine Easter replaced Martin.

Five minutes of stoppage time were added and the visitors equalised with seconds left as Gueye smashed home from 12 yards.
