Forestieri ready for fresh Championship challenge

Forestieri ready for fresh Championship challenge

Fernando Forestieri has been pleasantly surprised with how quickly he’s managed to settle in at S6 since making his arrival from Watford a fortnight ago.

The 25-year old swapped the Hornets for Hillsborough after being told he wouldn’t be part of Quiqe Flores’ Premier League plans this season and the little Italian explains he couldn’t be happier to his start as life as an Owl:

“I am good, I feel good and I am surprised by the team because everyone with me is very friendly,” he said.

“My agent spoke with the coach (Carvalhal) who said he wanted a player like me.

“I checked the project here in Sheffield and I like this project because they want to get to the Premier League so I am very happy to do this (transfer).”

The achievement of reaching the promised land this season for Wednesday would see Forestieri claim his second successive promotion to the top flight.

This prospect is certainly one that will whet the Wednesday appetite; Owls fans know all too well the qualities of their new number 45 after seeing him showcase how dangerous and influential a player he can be in the past few seasons playing against the club.

And it isn’t just those in the stands who are looking forward to seeing Forestieri don the Wednesday jersey for a first time, the man himself is also raring to go for today’s clash at Burnley, as he explains:

“I am excited to play because it has been a long time that I haven’t played for.

“I know the Championship, I know this league and I am very excited because we play two games away so I will know my supporters.”

He continued: “We have very good players and if we focus and we work together then we can do something very important for this club.”
