PREVIEW | Wednesday -v- Leeds

Derby day.

Okay, it’s not the big one, but I work in Leeds, so it feels pretty big to me.

I can only imagine the abuse I’ll get Monday morning if we’re beaten.

As with any derby, the lows are very low but the highs are amazing.

Let’s hope Marco Matias can pull off another wonder goal.

Owls Team News

Jordan Thorniley looks to be fit, which is a huge boost, but otherwise it remains much the same.

Hooper has joined Lee in suffering a setback, so won’t feature, and who knows where Almen Abdi is?

The big news is Fernando Forestieri returns from suspension, but you’d imagine he’ll start on the bench.

Matt Penney must be close to earning himself a boosted deal, having thoroughly impressed and made the left back spot very much his own.

Bannan and Baker are both 1 yellow away from suspension.

Magic Marco?

The Opponent’s Camp

Leeds have started the season on fire, and sit top of the table 9 games in.

Despite that we’re above them in the form table.

Big injuries to Patrick Bamford, Kemar Roofe and Pablo Hernandez may slow them down, but Marcelo Bielsa seems determined (and it’s not impossible) to march his new team back to the big time.

A home defeat to Birmingham shook them last time out, so they’ll be hoping to bounce back quickly with a result at Hillsborough.

Predicted Lineup

I can’t remotely guess what formation we’ll use, but to save me the editing I’m going with a 4-2-3-1.

GK: Cam Dawson

RB: Liam Palmer

CB: Tom Lees (C)

Spirits high

CB: Jordan Thorniley

LB: Matt Penney

CM: Joey Pelupessy

CM: Barry Bannan

RM: Marco Matias

CAM: Adam Reach

LM: Lucas Joao

ST: Steven Fletcher

Matt’s prediction – Even Stevens

After the negativity of last week I have to be slightly more positive.

But Leeds United are top of the league, and I just think both sides will cancel each other out.

2-2.

Scoreboard

Matt 4 – 6 Real Life
