PREVIEW | Aston Villa -v- Wednesday

PREVIEW | Aston Villa -v- Wednesday

The negativity has come back.

That’s all it takes, one defeat and everyone’s doom and gloom again.

Let’s hope we win 4-0 against Villa so that nobody can moan about anything (don’t worry, someone still will).

Most sensible fans will simply be looking forward to a game at a really quality football ground.

Last year we had a dream game at Villa Park, with Adam Reach opening the scoring after 18 seconds, smashing a belter on the half volley.

Owls Team News

Cam Dawson will continue in goal. No, Westwood won’t be playing, stop asking.

Thorniley looks set to miss out against Villa, and Gary Hooper has suffered a minor setback in training.

There may be a few changes to the lineup after the sloppy performance at Forest.

Penney, Kirby and Preston will all be in the squad according to the head coach, although you’d think two of those will have to settle for the bench.

David Jones won’t be playing, as he’s playing for the U23s on Friday night (for those still interested in Jones-watch).

The Opponent’s Camp

Villa started the season after a summer of mayhem.

Two years of outrageous and unprecedented spending saw the club crippled by financial regulations, with the majority of the first team looking set for pastures new.

Then they got bought by new owners, which somehow resets the clock, and signed a few more players.

Financial fair play for you (I think it’s actually called something else now).

In fairness, there may be a real reason for the reset, but I’m not an accountant so I can’t tell you it.

On the pitch, they’re doing okay, not great, but okay.

Steve Bruce seems to be of the opinion beating Rotherham 2-0 at home silences the critics.

Okay Steve.

Matt’s prediction – Villa, all Villa

As much as I’d love to say we’ll do well, I just can’t see anything other than a win for the home side.

I’ll be pleasantly surprised if we draw.

2-0 to Villa.
