PREVIEW | Reading -v- Wednesday

PREVIEW | Reading -v- Wednesday

Reading away.

I don’t really enjoy Reading away, mainly because we always get absolutely spanked.

I think this year might be a bit different, for no real reason, given we’re not exactly having a blistering start to the season.

Owls Team News

Maybe we’ll see Lee, Abdi or Hooper this weekend.

Pudil and Van Aken still look likely to miss out, but Fox has returned to fitness and there’s no fresh concerns.

Bannan and Joao will be keen to impress after their newly signed contracts, much to the joy of most of the fans.

David Jones was dusted off and made an appearance against Wolves, but disappeared to the bench late on, so we probably won’t see him until the FA Cup in January.

The Opponent’s Camp

Reading look as bad as they have done for years.

After falling victim to Huddersfield on penalties in the playoffs the same year we did, the club seems to have gone backwards even more than we have.

Even the happy clappers seem to think they’re in serious danger of relegation.

The squad lacks in all areas, even in fight or confidence.

Clement plays football differently to Jaap Stam, but the same basic problems exist, too many sloppy goals are conceded and not made up for at the other end.

It all looks worrying for Reading.

(Huge thanks to my friend Ollie @Woodsey_92 for his open assessment of his beloved club).

Matt’s Prediction – Dull

All our games against Reading seem to be extremely dull.

I’m going to go for a cautious prediction, I don’t want to get my hopes up.

Boring 1-1.
