MATCH PREVIEW:Huddersfield Town -v- Wednesday

The Owls made it two wins on the bounce last time out, can they get another win at Huddersfield or will Wednesday be terrorised by the Terriers?

Wednesday piled a lot of pressure on Charlton who initially resisted but the introduction of Alex Lopez and Adthe Nuhiu eventually saw the Addicks crumble and succumb to a 3-0 defeat.

Huddersfield pretty much ended Leeds’ season and went a long way to securing their own safety with an emphatic win at Elland Road, a period of 8 second half minutes saw the Terriers score three goals and seal a victory.

Wednesday made it six goals in two games after only managing one in their previous five before that, the Owls also made it four clean sheets out of five, if they can keep the clean sheets and the goals coming, it’ll go a long way toward extending the season.

Huddersfield have picked up form recently as they look to secure another season in the Championship, the Terriers have also been involved in some goalfests this season, with the Owls recent pick-up in front of goal, this game could have plenty of action in both penalty areas.

Wednesday 3-1 Huddersfield Town

(L.Joao 78,90, K.Lee 83)(S.Scannell 53)

Wednesday showed their fighting capabilities last time out as they roared back from a goal down and ended up recording a first S6 victory over Huddersfield since 2004.

The Owls have done well as of late at The McAlpine/Galpharm/John Smiths Stadium as they haven’t conceded in their last four visits there.

Perhaps the most famous of these was in April 2012 as a rare Miguel Llera goal from a free kick and Nile Ranger’s strike saw the Owls go a long way to securing their promotion from League One.

It all turned out well for Huddersfield in the end though as Steve Simonsen’s penalty (which last time we checked was heading toward Neptune) and the Terriers’ nerve saw them promoted with the Owls at the expense of our friends from S2.

CARVALHAL’S COHORTS

Barry Bannan, Aiden McGeady and Daniel Pudil all emerged unscathed from international duty, in Bannan’s case, it’s irrelevant as he serves the second match of his three match suspension.

Carlos Carvalhal has the luxury of a full squad to choose from.

In other club news George Hirst, son of the legendary David signed his first professional deal with the club.

Huddersfield will be without Elvis Manu who has been recalled from a loan spell by parent club Brighton & Hove Albion.

KEY PLAYERS

Alex Lopez made a positive impact when he was introduced from the bench against Charlton. He hasn’t made the impact expected given the form of Lee,Bannan,Hutchinson and Forestieri but more outings like Charlton will see him get more opportunities in the final stint of games

Rajiv van la Parra is looking to put himself in the shop window after an infamous Instagram post at Wolverhampton – “One week they love you. Next week they hate you. Both weeks I got paid”, the winger saw himself loaned out to Huddersfield not long after, on his days he’s trouble but he’s noted for being inconsistent.

HERE COMES D-JUDGE

We had to work for it but our perseverance paid off as we eventually secured victory against Charlton.

Now we have a tough game awaiting as we go to Huddersfield on the back of a confidence boosting win against Leeds. Last time we travelled we turned in a near flawless away performance at Forest but this will be a different game.

We’re fresh, rested and hopefully we’ll start this last stretch as we mean to go on with a victory. We have a chance to secure our own destiny with Ipswich and Cardiff to come to S6 and a trip to Derby awaiting but let’s make all our games count.

We can do this but we need to be at our finest.

VERDICT: I’m not feeling too confident about this – I think there’ll be entertainment but disappointment in a 2-2 draw.
