PREVIEW:Hull City -v- Wednesday

After a disappointing draw midweek, the Owls take on Hull City, can they show their promotion credentials or will they be dismissed as play-off pretenders?

The Owls have stuttered in the last two games, can they return to winning ways in front of the cameras or will the Tigers maul the Owls?.

Wednesday endured a frustrating night as they had more of the ball, they had more chances but they just couldn’t hit the net, Adthe Nuhiu did what Adthe Nuhiu does namely missing a penalty and then guiding home a sublime Pudil cross.

Hull capitalised on a toothless Ipswich side with Diame’s goal coming from a Robertson assist proving more than enough as the Tractor Boys failed to register a shot on target.

Hull haven’t conceded in four games and have lost just once in eleven games, their form at the KC is excellent too with Reading the last visiting team to score there on the 16th December, they’ve lost just once there this term, Derby the victors

LAST MEETING: 17th October 2015,Hillsborough,Att – 20,389

Wednesday 1-1 Hull City

(F.Forestieri 28)(A.Hernandez 51)

Wednesday drew against Hull in the last meeting with Hernandez cancelling out Fernando Forestieri’s opener.

Wednesday pulled off an upset on their last visit to the KC as Dave Jones’ struggling side turned on the style to beat Hull 3-1, Reda Johnson put the Owls in front but Koren levelled, a howler by goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic gave the away side the lead back and Michail Antonio put the result beyond doubt in injury time.

Hull have had the better of the rivalry in recent years with the Owls winning just three of the eleven meetings since 2004.

CARVALHAL’S COHORTS

Jeremy Helan has departed Hillsborough temporarily joining Wolverhampton Wanderers until the end of the season although they can recall him after 28 days if need be, Claude Dielna is also rumored to be departing in the next few days, Dielna hasn’t made an appearance this season for the first team.

Sam Hutchinson should return for this one and Fernando Forestieri is available for selection after missing the QPR game through suspension.

KEY PLAYERS

Fernando Forestieri has been terrific but a silly sending off hurt the Owls at Preston and his absence was felt against QPR, at his best we all know what he can do and we need a spark in what will be a tough away game.

Abel Hernandez has been scoring for fun this term netting 18 goals for the Tigers, he struggled in the Premier League but has had no problem finding the net in the second tier.

HERE COMES D-JUDGE

One thing we haven’t done this season is win against the top rivals and we’ve struggled to score against them too. We’ve held our own at times but we’ve let ourselves down.

Hull are one of the elite of the division and despite our own lofty position, it would be a surprise if we got anything at the KC given our patchy away form and their strong home record.

It’s time for us to have one of our on days and play with the precision, intensity and intelligence we can play with.

I’m not confident though.

VERDICT: 2-1 Hull
