NEWS | Pudil and Abdi sign for Wednesday

Wednesday have tonight announced the double signing of Daniel Pudil and Allen Abdi from Watford.

Pudil joins the Owls permanently after impressing in a season-long loan, while Abdi has fallen out of favour with the Premier League side.

The pair arrive with just over one week to go until Wednesday begin a new campaign at home to Villa.

Abdi was a popular figure at Watford, making over 100 appearances after an initial loan from Pozzo-owned Udinese.

Pudil installed himself as Wednesday’s first choice left back last season, and will immediately find himself back there after representing the Czech Republic at Euro 2016.

Abdi, a Swiss international, has arrived for an initial £3m, while details of Pudil’s return are yet to emerge.

The new man is primarily an attacking midfielder, usually positioned in the middle, but also the left wing.

His arrival will likely see former team-mate Fernando Forestieri stationed through the middle of the pitch, while Abdi links up with Pudil on the left.

Carlos Carvalhal is still in the market for at least one other defender, while further strengthening in midfield is also likely.
